FOOTBALL IN JUNE
Are you asking yourself, “What does June have to do with football?” Well, around our house it’s football season year round. Are you asking yourself, “How could that be?” Well, football isn’t just for fall. The professional football season begins in April with the draft. This past draft weekend our family got together and went to Green Bay to celebrate our dad’s 75th birthday and the draft. It truly was a grand celebration for all. Then we slide into a few months of mini camps and watch the progress of the rookies. Then in July its summer training camp.

Before you know it, it’s August and the Preseason begins along with practices for colleges and high school. As we roll through fall, there is plenty of football to watch.

The anticipation of the Superbowl and the Pro Bowl takes us through our coldest months of the year. Just when you think that football has come to a close, Arena football hits the scene in March, April, May, June and July … and there you have … football year round.

Between flag football, high school football, professional football and arena football, I have boxes of pictures to get into scrapbooks. This month I challenged myself to create layouts using Creatables that didn’t have a football theme. With the abundance of pictures that I have to scrap, I’m always looking for a new spin to decorate my pages. I hope the following layouts will be enough to help you spark ideas for your obsession … I mean passion that you have so many pictures of.

Happy Scrappin’
Julie
NEW COACH
Supplies:
  • Travel Adventures Creatable by Carolee Jones
  • Plaid background paper by Miss Elizabeth Retro Design Pack
  • Cardstock, grey, pale yellow, white
  • White grosgrain 3/8” ribbon by Offray
  • Cricut Cuttin’ Up cartridge or Lettering Template
  • Computer font, Picalo BT
Instructions:
  1. I love this camera frame from Carolee’s Travel Adventure Creatable. For me using a camera on a football layout makes perfect sense, considering I usually have enough pictures to create a flipbook that comes close to being a video. The journaling on this layout is the football schedule for the year along with the scores from each game. Instead of creating a journaling block, I cut strips and staggered them into a win and lose column. I think it adds a little more interest to the layout. I also broke away from the traditional Packer colors of green and gold and went with pale yellow and grey.

HANGIN’ AT TRAINING CAMP
Supplies:
  • Teen Scene Scrapable by Leere Aldrich
  • Background paper, Sage Grass Green, On A Lark, Imagination Project Inc.
  • Cardstock, white
  • Clear Mosaic Stickers, Tile’s Play, by Sticko
  • Green buttons, source unknown
Instructions:
  1. To set the mood of just hangin’ out and having fun was easy using the square graphics from Leere’s Teen Scene Scrapable. I printed assorted sizes of the graphics to fit in the available space and then embellished a few with clear mosaic stickers and matted some with white cardstock. The pictures on the layout are accented with strips of white cardstock, one I used to journal on, and lengths of yellow grosgrain ribbon. Did I fool you with the ribbon? It’s actually printed ribbon from the Scrapable embellished with green buttons.
Project 2
OFFENSE
Supplies:
  • H2O Adventures Creatable by Lori Barnes
  • Cardstock, brown, gold, white
  • Antique gold eyelets by Making Memories
  • Vintage White Dottie Ann decorative mesh by Magic Mesh
Instructions:
  1. Okay, can I say easy? I have so many pictures that I have to take advantage of my 12x12 layout space as much as I can. If you’re not afraid to cut your pictures, creating a background with your photos is fun. It’s like putting a puzzle together and in the end it all fits. Using the checked border graphic from Lori’s Creatable makes it look like I pieced in all together when in reality the only thing I did was add a computer printed title, matted it in gold and added eyelets to the corner. Again … can I say easy!
Project 3
AUTOGRAPH
Supplies:
  • School Spirit Creatable by Carol Halm
  • Cardstock, white, black, gold
  • Cricut Cuttin’ Up cartridge or Lettering Template
  • Computer font, Amazone BT
  • Labelmaker by Dymo
  • Metal photo corners from Oriental Trading Company
Instructions:
  1. I love this giant pencil from Carol’s Creatable. Before printing it onto white cardstock, I added the word autograph using Amazone BT font. Instead of matting each photo individually, I created one large mat for them all to fit on and used metal photo corners to frame the mat. I finished off the title with letters cut from my Cricut and labeled the photos using the labelmaker. As you can see from most of my layouts, I prefer to have everything straight and square. Putting this pencil at an angle was agonizing for me but now that I’ve looked at the layout long enough, I really like it. Maybe, I’ll have to try angles again … maybe.
