February Layout Ideas

When I first started scrapbooking, I thought, what a fun way to channel all those childhood experiences of cutting, pasting, doodling and so on. As I began filling the pages of my children’s memory books, everyone marveled at how creative a layout could be, while all along I was just living out my childhood past with a few more sophisticated tools. What began as a collection of markers and gel pens has grown into a room full of cool supplies and the RAM filled on my computer with Creatables ... I don’t see anything wrong with that at all. Most of the time I use Creatables for scrapbooking, but they have also came in handy for greeting cards, school projects, refrigerator magnets and more.

Here are just a few layouts that I’ve created. I hope you enjoy them and become inspired.

Layout 1:

Supplies:

  • Kidz Rule Creatable by Tim Brazier
  • 2 tone aqua paper (source unknown)
  • Vellum
  • Cardstock, yellow, purple, red, white
  • Glossy photo paper (optional)
  • Pop Dots by All Night Media
  • Vellum tape by 3M
  • 1" circle punch

Instructions

  1. Copy and paste the Bath Time, Rubber Ducky and Kidz Rule graphic to a work space. Size to fit layout. Insert a text box and size to add journaling. Print onto white cardstock or glossy photo paper. I used glossy photo paper to give it a shiny wet look. Cut out graphics and journaling block.
  2. Cut a 4" strip from the 2 tone aqua paper and flip it over to give your layout a lighter border along the edge. Attach back together.
  3. Adhere the Tub Time and Kidz Rule graphics to the edge border. Use Pop Dots to adhere the RULE graphic.
  4. Mat the journaling block and photo in the assorted cardstock colors and adhere to layout.
  5. Tear a strip of vellum and adhere to the bottom of the layout using the vellum tape. Pop Dot the Rubber Ducky to the vellum border. Punch several vellum circles and adhere randomly to layout.

Layout 2:

Supplies:

  • Garden Delights Creatable by Linda Wolfe
  • Cardstock, green, yellow, rust, parchment
  • Bronze eyelets by Making Memories
  • Hemp jewelry cord by The Beadery
  • Assorted small yellow beads (source unknown)
  • Double sided tape

Instructions

  1. Copy and paste Daisy, Cool Tree, Birdhouse, Pretty Pot, and Happy Gal to a workspace. Size the graphics to be used for the nuggets to 1.75"x2.5" and the Happy Gal to 6" tall. Insert a text box to create a journaling block. (My journaling block measures 4.75"x2".) Cut out graphics and journaling.
  2. Mat the nuggets and journaling onto rust cardstock. Leave a wider border on the outside edges of the journaling block and add an eyelet and a strip of beads as shown in the layout. Adhere beads to the bottom of the Happy Gals shirt and the center of the Daisy.
  3. Choose a photo and cut it into 3 equal parts. Mat each section onto yellow cardstock. Then mat onto rust cardstock creating a tag with an eyelet at the top. Place a strip of beads across the top of the photo tags.
  4. Arrange all the elements onto the green cardstock. Before adhere everything in place, determine where the eyelets need to go on the yellow strip to line up with the photo tags. Add eyelets and adhere everything in place. Tie the photo tags to the yellow strip using the hemp.

Layout 3:

Supplies:

Instructions

  1. Copy and paste FR Curves and Gift graphics to a workspace. Size to fit layout. Add a text box to the center of the FR Curves graphic and add a title. Print onto silver cardstock. (You'll need to allow time for the ink to dry on the silver cardstock before handling it.) Cut out graphics and add jewels to the ends of the FR Curves title.
  2. Mat photos and Gift graphic using the white and peach cardstock. (I used an 8x10 photo cut in half or my border. The other half of the photo is on the opposite page of this layout. To make it fit the page, add 3/4" silver squares to the mat at the top of the photo. Place jewels in the center of the squares.)
  3. Arrange photos and graphics and adhere to the blue cardstock to complete layout.

Layout 4:

Supplies:

  • Travel Adventures Creatable by Carolee Jones
  • Background paper, Antique Light by Pebbles Inc.
  • Cardstock, rust, cream
  • Vellum
  • Funky Fibers by Making Memories, Christmas pack
  • Paper clip
  • Dymo label maker
  • Paper Fasteners by Creative Impressions

Instructions

  1. Copy and paste the Travel Adventure and Backroads Map graphics to a workspace. Size to fit layout and print onto vellum. Cut out the map and title, tearing the bottom of the Travel Adventure header.
  2. Randomly tear strips of rust cardstock and add to the Antique Light background.
  3. Mat photos onto cream cardstock. (I scanned photos from different vacation locations and printed them in sepia tone. This layout is the beginning of a vacation album.)
  4. Adhere graphics and photos to layout.
  5. Place paper fasteners next to photos to create bulletins. Tie fiber to paper fasteners and attach them to a paper clip fastened to the side of the Backroads Map graphic.
  6. Label photos with locations using the label maker.
