THINKING BIG IN A LITTLE SPACE
I'm use to creating with a 12x12 space in my scrapbooks and sometimes wish it were a bigger area than that. When I decided to use an 8x8 album for my daughters Dance Team pictures, I learned fast how to weed through and pick only the best pictures and how to creatively use a smaller space. I'm having a great time putting together this album and have even managed to fit more than one picture on a page. Since I now know I will be using this size album for each of her years on the Dance Team, I've learned not to worry about zooming in too close or to digitally crop my pictures. By doing this, it enables me to get several pictures on a page by cropping the photo smaller than a 4x6. There is always a few of those pictures that warrant a close up on a page to themselves and that's okay too. The space left on my page after I have my picture(s) arranged is the perfect canvas for my Creatable graphics. If you're buying your embellishments, you're stuck with one size. With the Creatable graphics you get to size them to the space you have available … need I say more. Whether your space is large or small you can make your graphic fit perfectly.

BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS
Instructions:
This adorable Basketball Bear is from the
Busy Busy Bears
Creatable by Carolee Jones. By simply trimming my pictures to fit vertically from the top of the page to the bottom, I was able to fit 3 pictures. A small strip with a page title, (or journaling) and a basketball brad complete this layout along with the bear sized to fit the page.
WHEN IN DOUBT, DANCE
Instructions:
Would you ever think that you could use penguins on a dance layout? Well these cute little guys all in a row from
A Penguin's Christmas
Creatable by Janie Dawson worked perfectly. I bought this pink dance paper and then changed my picture to black and white and added a pink tint to match. The stripes in the dancer's costumes and the striped vests on the penguins compliment each other and by printing the graphic on pink paper, it maintained the correct color hue of pink and black to match the picture. Think outside the box and look for graphics in unsuspecting Creatables.
DANCE TEAM ROCKS
Instructions:
I used the Framed Circle graphic from the
Lady Ladybugs
Creatable by Kate Honarvar to create a badge. Adding a title and red ribbon to the circle gives it a winning style. Although this layout looks like it has a lot of pictures, it only has 2. The picture on the bottom was trimmed into sections and then spread out evenly the width of the layout.
COUPLES DANCE
Instructions:
From the
Girls Rock
Creatable by Beth Logan I took the flower graphic and created a border printed on white cardstock. I then took the printed paisley graphic and cut them out and added them to the flower border to represent leaves. Adding orange and green eyelets to the flowers helped add a little dimension the layout. To save space, place your pictures right along the edge of your layout and skip matting them. This will leave you a little more room for your embellishments.
SMILE
Instructions:
This was a fast fun layout. I took the word SMILE from the
Wild Bunch
Creatable by Leere Aldrich and created a border. After arranging my pictures, I determined the space I had left to embellish. I sized the space I had and created a text box in Microsoft Word and added the word SMILE in different sizes and directions. I matted it and then wrapped it with fibers from Making Memories.
