The other day I was sorting through old family photos trying to figure out how to preserve them. When I should have continued to organize, I got creative instead. You just have to create when the inspiration is there. After a trip to our local thrift store to pick up an old board book that cost me 99 cents, I began scanning the photos that I wanted to use. I picked a time span back in the 1960’s because these photos sparked a lot of memories. When deciding what photos to use, I also paid attention to what was in the background of the photo. Things like a car, a tree, wallpaper, or furniture can bring back memories along with the people in the photo. Although some of the lighting and the composition of these old black and whites weren’t the best, I used them for the adorable faces and the background and didn’t do much cropping. Once I had my photos chosen, I picked a color scheme. I choose brown, gold and rust because it reminded me of the colors in our home back then. Because the binding on a board book isn’t expandable, you need to keep your pages as flat as possible so you can close the book.
