SCRAPBOOKING TOOLS
Over the years, scrapbooking has evolved from owning a pair of scissors and handful of markers to a market alluring us with “must have” tools. Many times I have seen a new product and thought, “I need that.” But as time went by, I discovered that I survived without it. This wasn’t the case when I saw that the CRICUT by Provo Craft hit the shelves. I ignored all the alphabet templates that I have, reacted on “I need that”, and bought it. I used to think of cutting out letters as therapeutic. Now I watch my CRICUT cut out letters and get instant gratification. With the ability to size letters from 1” to 5½”, the sky is the limit.

I incorporated my love of Creatables and the love of my “New Tool” to create the following layouts.
Layout 1: SUMMER FISHING
Supplies Used:
  • Hubbies Hobbies Creatable by Carol Halm
  • Stamped Font Cartridge by Provo Craft
Comments:
Mixing up colors within a title gives a layout an interesting visual. It also helps remedy the problem of trying to figure out what color to use.

Layout 2: I (HEART) IKEA
Supplies Used:
  • Land that I Love Creatable by Melissa Shupe
  • George and Basic Shapes Font Cartridge by Provo Craft
Comments:
The clean lines of this font give this title a nice neat look. With the ability to size Hugware graphics and the font, these two tools allow you to work within just about any given size space. While I was creating this layout, my daughter was busy with the computer working on homework. This forced me to complete my layout using my handwriting for journaling instead of the computer. The computer is my number one favorite tool, but I also was pleased with the journaling and vow to document more using my handwriting.

Layout 3: OPERATION
Supplies Used:
Comments:
For the title on this layout, I replaced the “I” letters with a nurse and a doctor graphic from the Everyday Heroes Creatable. The page accents are a printed background from A Mother's Garden cut into angled rectangles and matted onto white cardstock.

Layout 4: DANCE
Supplies Used:
  • Dance and Cheer Creatable by Kate Merkley
  • George and Basic Shapes Font Cartridge by Provo Craft
Comments:
For this simple layout, I copied and pasted the Dance background from the Creatable and sized it to 2” wide. I then copied and pasted it to cover the entire workspace. I printed it onto white cardstock and used it to cut out the word DANCE using George font. The adorable little tags that spell RECITAL are a feature on the cartridge.

I hope you enjoyed these layouts as much as I enjoyed playing with my new toy, I mean, “tool”. I have only begun to learn all the endless possibilities. This tool has also helped me impress many parents because of posters I’ve made for my children’s sporting events. Please don’t let them know how easy it really is.

Happy Scrapping and Craft Creating,
Julie
