A Note of Appreciation to all PcCrafter Artists
If you are a newcomer to the site or to the artwork presented by PcCrafter, be sure to go to the shopping area and check out the wonderful variety of styles and subjects. You will find artwork from the whimsical to the realistic, the silly to the serious and from subdued colors to the bright and bold. You will also find a few books in that section by someone you might know.
You may know that I love to write poetry and I love cards. I love to create cards and enclose my own verses, whether they are electronically sent or through the US mail. This week I found that each Creatable I chose for my inspirational wall hangings and cards was by Meg Abreu. I began with
Always with Love
and
Stitched with Love
and enjoyed them so much that I checked out her other more whimsical downloadables.
Meg’s artwork is so lovely and so perfect for those of you who may be just beginning to digitally create your cards and pages. All you need to do is add your words or a quote and your words and a photo, to have a wonderful card or layout.
Project 1: Happy Birthday Card for Teacher
Stitched with Love
by Meg Abreu has everything you need to create a perfectly lovely card or layout, including the stitched alphabet.
Open the background page and clone out the words at the bottom using the clone tool. (Because we are doing something for teacher, not Mom.)
Add the poem from
A Taste of Paste
. Use other sentiments from “Paste” to add to bookmark and tags.
To add some more depth to the page, I added another button and flower on top of the ones on the page and used my Bevel plug-in.*
Project 2a, b and c: I Have This Day and God Cares
Always with Love
is my favorite. You could print out some of the cards just as they are and send them out. People will think you are a genius!
Open pages and add poems from
Letters to Heaven
by Thena and Lynne.
Adjust size of text to fit page.
Use as wall hanging or to create a card for your friends.
Print on magnetic sheet and place on your refrigerator door. Meg’s artwork doesn’t need anything but your words to complete something special.
For Priceless Treasures, I used the cutout tool to cut out a shape for the photo. I added the envelope to the basic page and then tucked things under the main item.
Project 3: The Dandelion
Simply Sweet
is ready to use scrapbook pages, complete with its own alphabet.
Create a new page and add shape. (Add cute photo such as this one of Chally’s beautiful daughter!)
Fill shape with color and add clipart.
Add shape to pocket and soften edges.
Fill shape with photo.
Add ribbons for decoration.
Project 4: Wish You Were Here
Born to Shop
is Meg’s Cardable which has fun things to brighten a fellow shopper’s day.
Open up postcard and use magic wand to remove the white background inside the card.
Add your favorite “shopping” photos to the inside, tucking them in behind each other so that each can be seen.
I like to add white borders around my snapshots to make them pop out.
These photos were taken when Sharon and I went to CKU Minneapolis. How did Mitzi sneak on that plane with us! (grin)
There you have it, some simple but lovely things to do with Meg’s artwork. I hope you will enjoy her work and come up with some unique and creative things to do, not only with her work, but with all of the wonderfully talented PcCrafter artists.
Project 5: Sweet Goodbye
And last, but not least, I used a photo I took of the San Diego skyline and texturized in Digital Image Pro as the background for a verse from
Letters to Heaven
.
And a special little gift page. Just add a ribbon across a photo as if it were a package and brighten someone’s day. This one I made by adding a shape and filling it with color. I played with the gradients to make it look more ribbon like.
Your assignment should you choose to accept it:
From lessons learned all too frequently and recently: Back up your computer!
Take time to smell the roses, even if they are in your neighbor’s yard.
Listen to the joy in children’s laughter.
Take some self portraits and don’t hesitate to ask other people to take a photo of you.
Enjoy this day for the special day it is. It is unique and will not come again.
Look forward to the future and remember lessons learned in the past but don’t dwell on mistakes.
Make more memories than you could ever photograph. And if you have to choose between taking the photo with a camera or enjoying it fully with your mind and heart, record it first in your heart. The memories can be so vibrant.
Meet me back here next month!
Hugs,
Thena
*The plug-in I used was downloaded online from Almathera.
