SUNNY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN

Tricia Santry has an adorable Creatable called “Sunny Days”. With Spring arriving (at least in some parts of the country) it seemed like a fitting choice to use for this month’s little article. It has flowers, butterflies, frogs and cute background papers, just to name a few things. No matter what photos you have sitting in your shoeboxes, or filling your compact flashcards waiting to be downloaded into your computer, I will just bet that you can find something you can use with this cute collection of clipart! She also has a wonderful collection called “Friends Forever” which is the HugClub selection.

“Each month the pcHugClub features two exclusive Creatables each with 30 beautiful images for you to download, enjoy and create with. This Bonus Creatable is held exclusive to members in the month it is released and then is made available for purchase.”

These images would make a nice little mini book to record your spring and summer fun. I will show you some ideas to create some quick pages where all you have to do is add your own photos.

Let’s get busy now and have some creative fun! (I am using Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006) or DIP

Project 1: Sunny Day Pages
  1. Create a new page at 8.5 x 11 and 300 dpi.
  2. Add flower image, butterfly image and blue mat from Sunny Days and use the color picker in DIP to choose a background color to match the petals.
  3. Group the items together by hitting shift and alt (on PC). Create second page by duplicating and making it a mirror image by using the flip command in DIP.
  4. Now you have two pages for your album ready to add your photos.
A simple way to create multiple pages is to vary these same elements and same theme a number of times for similar photos or for the same event.

Project 2: Sunny Day Album (Pages three and four)
  1. Rearrange the elements just a bit and add mats for journaling or small photos and now you have four pages.

Project 3: Sunny Day Album (Pages five and six)
  1. Use the flowered background for one side and the blue side for the other. Add the strip of grass to the bottom right and an extra row to the left side. Use the dodge and burn tool to darken the images a bit. Now you have 6 quick pages ready to add your own photos and journaling.

Project 4: You Can’t Hug a Frog!
  1. Follow came steps as above to create 2 pages with blue spotted background.
  2. Add frame from Sunny Day and then add the frogs to the frame.
  3. Add poem from Where’s Thena, I Need a Poem About… by Thena Smith.
  4. Add the photo of your choice or add more journaling and you now have 8 pages in your mini book.

Project 5: Create a simple doggie and dog house
  1. Follow the instructions on the layout to create a simple doghouse with shapes.

Project 6: Create a simple little pup from shapes.
  1. Use the shapes on the layout to create the pup. The ear is the oblong with distort applied. You can use effects in DIP to make him look like a little stuffed doggie or use the download demo from Alienskin to add some fur to the little critter!

There you have it! Hope you had fun and are all set to be creative.
