Moving Right Along
“
Happy Spring
” by
Jane Shasky
is such a fun, upbeat and totally usable bit of happy art! I want to show you how to have fun using this Creatable and make it yours. I want show you how to save things that you will use often in such a way that it will be convenient for you to use.
So many of us have some sort of binding machines today, whether it is plastic coil or wire. More and more people are enjoying making theme books and mini books. Everything from ABC books to recipe books are fun targets and pcCrafter has the appropriate images for them all.
Many of us have been happily using Microsoft software from the original Picture It to Digital Image Suite 2006, but now that software is being discontinued and since new scrappers won’t be able to get it, I will begin to include instructions that can also be applied to other software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe CS1, 2, or 3. I will try to keep it simple and most things will still be in DIP for now.
Let’s look at the “
Happy Spring
” Creatable and have some fun.
Project 1: Make Yourself a Kit of Matching Papers
In Digital Image Pro create a new document 8 x 8 or 12 x 12.
Go to effects/edges and stamped. Add stamp around edge.
Fill with color. (I filled with black.)
Choose a background paper from
Happy Spring
.
Go to Effects/ fill with color or texture, from pull down menu choose fill with picture.
Since the paper I choose was so light I added a highlight to the edge to make the scallop show up. (Effects/edges/highlights).
Next, I copied and pasted the page and filled with colors in the lace background creating a series of papers that I can use together in my project.
*Create a file called favorite templates and store the scalloped one for later use.
Project 2: Have a Happy Day Card
Using green paper created in project one, add window box to it.
Copy and paste another green paper and add yellow highlight to edge (Go to Effects then Edge/highlight/choose yellow, soften).
Layer the two to make a pretty double edge.
Add your sentiment or wish.
Project 3: Create a Happy Congratulations on Your Retirement Page
Create a new 12 x 12 page at 300 dpi.
Add background paper and lace trim from Happy Spring.
Add butterflies and add shadows.

Project 4: Come to Tea Page
Create new page and using the template for scalloped paper create several pages.
Use the eyedropper tool to choose the right shade of yellow and fill with color.
Use the colors from the tea cup to create strips of color in a new paper.
*See Project 5
Add border and title from
Happy Spring
.
Project 5: Creating the Background Stripes for project 4
Stretch those pixels! If you have Adobe Photoshop or Elements then you can pull up the teacup and place on a page
Draw a line down the center of the teacup using the single column marquee tool.
Chose transform and then pull the line across to stretch the pixels.
*If you are using DIP:
Add a long shape across the page.
Fill with color, add another, and repeat until you have all of the colors of the cup.
Group the five colors together, copy and paste to fill up page.
Happy Spring
is another one of those Creatables that can be described as perfection! I love everything about it. I think you will too.
As usual, here are your assignments if you should decide to accept them:
Be a spirit lifter; try to bring a smile to someone’s face.
If you have kids, listen to them while looking them in the eye, giving them some undivided attention.
Try to draw a picture of someone in your family.
Create a mini book of some kind.
Sing while you work.
Enjoy time with family and friends.
Meet me back here next month.
Hugs,
Thena
