Mitzi the Duck with Pluck
The message board is all-abuzz with chat of a new celebrity … this celebrity does not dress herself in furs but in feathers! Yes, it is Mitzi, the Duck with Pluck! From the time she appeared on the download scene, her fans have gone wild (and crazy). Mitzi has appeared in photos, pages, layouts, crafts etc., that have her doing everything from shopping to sky diving and all over the world and even outer space!
This month’s designs will be a bit different as I share with you some of these exploits as captured by our friends on the pcCrafter Message Board.
Norma, Janice, Rosa, Peggy, Sandy, Marilou and Sonia from the pcCrafter message board have graciously allowed me to share their creations with you.
It was even rumored that Mitzi attended CKU in Minnesota with Thena and Sharon…at least she was spotted on the airplane……
Project 1: Sonia’s Glass Block Lights with Mitzi
Mitzi brightens up the room with these glass block lights
HugWare Message Board member Sonia did these blocks following these instructions:
  1. Purchase the block at favorite home or hardware store
  2. Drill a hole w/ a 1/2" glass/tile drill bit.
  3. Print images on full sheet label paper. (For the 8X8 blocks I have to use two sheets of label paper, for the 6X8 blocks, you can get both images on one sheet.)
  4. You can then laminate them with your Xyron.  With the double sided laminate cartridge two labels can be laminated at once by leaving the waxed protector paper on the label sheet and placing two label sheets printed side out. after they are laminated just trim near the edged and they pull apart. You then have two laminated sticker sheets.
  5. Then put a 20 count strand of white Christmas lights inside the block and stick the stickers on - one on each side. And add ribbon.
Project 2: Biohazard Room at Peggy’s
Peggy has never been quite sure what Mitzi was doing in this part of her house but fortunately she was able to get this photo. She also snapped these cute photos of Mitzi with her fur friend, Maxie.
  1. I added the first photo to a solid color mat, framed the photo and then used the boiling bubbles effect to add a bit of fun to Peggy’s cool page.
  2. For the photo of Maxi and Mitzi, I added a brown background so that it would pop out of the photo.
Project 3: Mitzi and Janice’s Son
Janice created a scrapbook page by adding Mitzi to a page and then adding a cutout of her son from another photo.
Project 4: Rosa and Mitzi
Imagine Rosa’s surprise when she saw Mitzi in Mexico right after.
Project 5:
Marilou had just spotted her in Virginia City……..
Project 6:
Sharon and Thena saw her traveling to Minnesota.
Project 7: Mitzi Thank You Nurses Tent
Very easy and fun to make. By: Norma Anderson
Candy is a great gift, especially when Mitzi gives them……. Just ask Norma who made these great gifts featuring our favorite duck with pluck!
Supplies:
  • Tent Template- I used the tent template from jersgirl.com
  • Hershey Kisses
  • Enough ribbon to tie a small bow
  • 3x4 zip lock bag-
  • 1 sheet of cardstock.
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Mitzi Creatable
Instructions:
  1. Size template to be 4" wide x 10" wide..*Hint-if you want to print two tents per page just adjust below 4" wide until two fit on page.
  2. I then sized and placed my graphics on the tent the way I wanted them.
  3. I also added a border around the tent. I then printed on cardstock, cut out tent, score and folded on the bold lines.
  4. I filled my zip lock bag with Hershey Kisses
  5. I place the zip lock inside of standing tent and using the hole punch I punched two holes, making sure to go through the top of the zip lock bag.
  6. I then took my ribbon and threaded it through the holes and tied a bow to close the tent.
Project 8: Mitzi Candy Card in Norma’s Own Words
By: Norma Anderson
Supplies:
  • Template for box ( which is the back part of the card)
  • Template for flap(which is the front of the card)
  • 2 sheets of cardstock
  • Mitzi Creatable
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • 3 full size Hershey bars
Instructions:
  1. I designed the box template using Mitzi Creatable which is the back of the card.
  2. I printed it out, cut, scored and folded and glued together using glue stick, let dry.
  3. I then designed the flap template using Mitzi Creatable, I printed it out, cut, scored on line and folded. I printed the card stock yellow on the opposite side of flap before printing as this will be my inside front of card.
  4. I then glued the smaller side of the fold to the left side of box, making sure the top part of the box is facing up.
  5. Now it should look like a card, on inside of card open the top of the box and put in 3 full size Hershey bars. That's all there is to it. It is real fun and simple.
Many thanks to the ladies who shared their adventures with Mitzi with us. Better watch out you never know where she might turn up next! Who knows what could be happening the next time you hear someone yell…….”DUCK!”

Mitzi the Duck with Pluck
You gotta love Mitzi
'Cause she is a duck with pluck
Who cashes in on her cute ducky grin
And gets bargains on all her stuff!
She offers ducky beauty tips
Which may not be profound
Such as getting rid of sagging skin
By adding pound after pound after pound...
We love her sassy nature
And the way she ages so gracefully
Hidden behind her big ole shades
She looks a bit like me!
Julia Roberts had better watch out
Martha Stewart, you are safe
I won't say she's getting older but...
She buys candles by the case.
Birthdays give her a headache
Chocolate brings release
The fire dept is on alert for her birthdays
(Thankfully not the police!)
She dines on tea and crackers
And doesn't like to cook
I must admit that I love Mitzi-
She's tops in my scrapbook!
