Getting Creative with HugWare
We all know the basic things that can be done with clipart. We can make cards, scrapbook pages, tee shirts, mousepads, etc. What about decorating things for a family reunion and having tee shirts and other souvenirs with the family photo or slogan on them? What about creating a scrapbook for the family and saving it to disk or emailing copies to family members that are out of the country or out of town?

How would your child like to have a storybook created with his or her photos and story line? You can choose the photos and the clipart and then have the book comb bound or bind it yourself with spiral or combs, etc.

If you visit the PCC message board, you will be amazed at all of the wonderful ideas out there.

You can use the HugWare along with your software programs unique tools and special features to unleash creativity that you didn’t realize you had! You can also download free plug-ins from the web that will allow you even more options.

This month I’m taking the Creatable Debbie Mumm’s Botanical Angels by Debbie Mumm (Available in the shopping cart May 4th 2006) to show you what a variety of things you can do with it. The program I am using is Microsoft Digital Image Pro 2006 Suite.
Project 1: Making Use of Shapes
  1. I used the striped pattern as the background paper.
  2. I added a shape from DIP and filled it with patterned paper. I wanted a half circle so I let the other half hang off the side and cropped the page to 12 x 12 square. This left me with the portion I wanted.
  3. I used the framed embellishments as frames for my own photos. I used the square cutout tool to select the inside photo and then chose fill with picture to place my photo inside.
  4. I added the flowers and the butterflies and using the bevel plug in that I downloaded from the internet, I beveled them.
  5. You can use one of the photo blocks as a journaling block if you want to add journaling or a poem.

Project 1

Project 2: Happy Birthday Teacher
  1. I chose a verse from A Taste of Paste to make a little birthday card or scrapbook page for a favorite teacher.
  2. I used the purple patterned paper as the background and added the fairy and flower from the same Debbie Mumm’s Botanical Angels.
  3. I used the bevel effect on each embellishment.
  4. I cut out around the watering can, copied and pasted it back on the page and then beveled it to make it stand out.

Project 2

Project 3: Plant Seeds of Kindness
  1. I created a new page and added a shape from DIP.
  2. I used the fill with color or photo function and alternated patterns to create the background.
  3. I added a rectangle and angel fairy and filled the shape with blue from the embellishment.
  4. I added text and I used the bevel effect to the angel.
Project 3

Project 4: From My Garden
  1. I used the green stripe as my background but went to hue and saturation to change the color to match the pinks in my half circle.
  2. I made the half circle by adding a shape and then using fill with color or picture. I chose picture and filled the circle with the pattern.
  3. I added a shape and then added my photos. I added shadow under the photos.
  4. I added the flowers and butterflies, embellished them and added shadows.
  5. I used the color picker to choose a color for the title and the bevel effect to make it pop.
Project 4

Project 5: Making Leaf Frame
  1. I created a square and placed the leaf embellishment in each corner.
  2. I beveled each leaf and added shadows.
Project 5

Project 6: My Neighbors down the Street
  1. I used the green stripe paper, and added the kaleidoscope effect. I cut out the center of the page and added my photo behind it.
  2. I used the effect on the photo.
  3. I placed the original photo underneath and erased the top photo to let the birds show through.
  4. I added a title using PC Becca Brush and a little verse.
Project 6
Project 7: Fun with Your Photos
  1. Choose and photo and try various effects with it. I downloaded a plug-in from the web and changed my photo of the rose to this fun version. You can do a Google search for plug-ins that will work with your software program.
Project 7
There you have it! Some fun things to do with Debbie’s beautiful downloadable Creatable!

Your assignment should you choose to accept it:
  1. Be kind.
  2. Be considerate.
  3. Be aware.
  4. Teach your children to be kind to others.
  5. Teach your children to be aware of their surroundings and teach them safety tips.
  6. It only takes a moment to make a memory (good or bad) that will last a lifetime!
  7. Take time to let people know that you love them.
  8. Meet me back here next month!

Hugs,
Thena
