Happy Spring! Happy Easter! Happy Warm Sunshine!
More and more of our digital scrapbookers are wanting to learn how to add to the fun images that we get each month and create simple items for their own enjoyment. When you have an image that does not fit your needs exactly, create something of your very own. Just as our hybrid or cut and paste scrappers do this with paper and other embellishments, you can do the same with your computer.
I went to the shopping section on the pcCrafter site and looked at the new items for spring as well as the previously released Easter collections. There are so many wonderful images and ideas available. I especially loved:
Some Bunny Special
by Leree Aldrich,
Turn to the Shepherd
by Lori Gardner,
Easter Moments
by Lori Lakey,
Egg Hunt
by Linda Oberhansley,
Debbie Mumm’s Easter
,
Easter Dumplings (1 and 2)
by Julie Dobson Miner, and
Simply Spring
by Shelly Cominsky. Your kids will also love
Bunny Tails
by Stephanie Lavender! You can also find a ready to go Easter card in
Gentle Moments
by Thena Smith.
Along with all of the wonderful
Spring
and
Easter
HugWare, I will show you how to venture out and add your own ideas to the mix! We will create the items used to make the layout above.
Let’s get busy now and make some pages!
Project 1: Create eggs
a. Easter eggs
Open a new file and add a circle shape. Pull it into an oblong or egg shape.
You can create a more realistic egg shape by flattening the bottom a bit.
You can add a round circle at the bottom and then fill in the shape along the side using the drawing tool. This will keep the dig in at the bump from showing.
(But I won’t tell if you just use the oblong shape as it is)
b. Green grass
Add circle shape and fill with green color.
Stretch shape lengthwise until it is long and skinny
Use the Distort tool and form it into thin grass shape.
Clump grass together and then distort clump.
Project 2: Create background paper out of layout
I used a fun plug-in found at mehdiplugins.com that works in DIP to create a background paper. Just use the mirror effect on the plug in. (You can do a search for plug-ins and find a number that work with DIP and that you will love.)
Adjust paper to a fun look and add photo mats filled with colors from the page.
Add your eggs as a border to the background paper.
Project 3: Create colorful background
Create a new page and fill with rectangular shapes.
Use the fill with color tool. Fill each shape with bright colors.
Group the page pieces together using the group function.
Go to filters, plug-ins and have some fun with the kaleidoscope plug-in.
* If you don’t have this filter, play around with various other filters in your regular filter folder. This type of page is a great way to create a card using all of your favorite images.
Project 4: Easter Card 1 using Project 3 as a Base
Take those darling dumplings from
Easter Dumplings 2
and use just the egg part.
Add each one to a colored slot on your page.
Add your text and you have a fun Easter card!
Project 5: Easter Card 2
Create new document in the size you want your card.
Make it a landscape document.
Add photo from
Gentle Moments
by Thena Smith.
Follow your printers directions to create a card to mail or add your signature and send it as an e card.
I hope you had a bit of fun this month and that you will try to create other items on your own.
Your assignments, should you decide to accept them:
Enjoy who you are and where you are and what you are doing at this time of your life.
Learn from your past mistakes but don’t dwell on them.
Look forward to the future but don’t neglect the present.
Be kind to other people.
Take photos, take breaks, take time to smell the roses.
Hug someone.
Meet me back here next month!
Have a Joyous Easter!
Love,
Thena
