FRIENDSHIP
Friends come in many shapes and sizes and they all suit a purpose in our lives. There are the friends that you can call anytime to ask a favor. There are the friends that make you laugh no matter your mood. We can’t forget the ones who will let us cry on their shoulder. I’m fortunate to have a network of friends that fit all the roles. If you are like me, I don’t get to see my friends as much as I’d like so when we do get together we make the most of the time we have. For over 20 years my high school girlfriends and I have gotten together every fall for our annual “Shop ‘Till Ya Drop” trip. Over the years the purpose of the trip has changed. The core purpose is still shopping but it has evolved into more of a therapy session at times. Where we use to power shop we now find ourselves taking our time at lengthy dinner conversations and late night gab fests. We share our stories of family and lives that are all different from each other. So when it comes to friendships the shapes and sizes don’t matter, it’s the fit that counts.
The following lyrics are from popular television shows that remind me of my friends and I.
CHEERS
Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same.
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.
You wanna go where people know, people are all the same.
You wanna go where everybody knows your name.
THE GOLDEN GIRLS
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
Your heart is true you’re a pal and a confidant.
And if you throw a party
Invited everyone you ever knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend.
Hug A Friend Today,
Julie
