SNAP TO IT
Inspiration comes in many ways and forms. My inspiration for this month’s article came from an afternoon of cleaning out my sewing supplies. In doing this tedious chore, I ran across several packages of snaps. You know those pearl looking ones from the Urban Cowboy days. Yes, I remember those days well. Instead of just tossing the snaps away they ended up on my scrapbooking table for a few days and therefore became my inspiration.
Next time you’re cleaning out one of your junk drawers, take a good look at what you’re about to throw away. See if you can imagine it having a different purpose than what it was meant for. A big “Thank You” goes out to my guest scrapbooker, my daughter Prairie. Thank you for helping me with these ideas and layouts. Keep up the good work and one day you’ll be teaching me.

Gina Jane Johnson
Cardstock: black, white
Faux Finish paper by Miss Elizabeth’s
Dymo label maker
Tag Template by Coluzzle White snaps (Sewing Department)
Jewelry Hemp by The Beadery
Instructions:
Open up a workspace, I use Microsoft Word, and copy and paste the Aspen Bark Background, Map Border, and Map Sign Border. Size the Aspen Bark Background to the full width in landscape format. Arrange so the Map Border is along the top edge. Place the Map Sign Border onto layout so that you will be able to trim a 3 ½” Aspen Bark border. Print onto white cardstock. Trim the white edges from around the cardstock and trim the 3 ½” Aspen Bark border. Cut the Map Border into individual squares.
Adhere the Aspen Bark border to the faux finish paper and trim to a square the width of the border. Adhere this background to the center of the black cardstock.
Cut 2 tags using the Coluzzle tag template and adorn with Map Sign graphics and faux finish paper. Create titles with the label maker. Place a snap at the top of each tag. Wrap tags with jewelry hemp.
Mat photos with black cardstock and arrange onto layout with tags.
Add a title or date with the label maker and attach with snaps. (I placed acid free paper behind any labels that would come in contact with photos.)

Mat a 3 ½” x 5” photo and tuck underneath the ribbons. I printed my photo in black and white and color. I then trimmed ½” all the way around the color photo and centered in onto the black and white photo. This helped frame the photo with all the other colors going on around it.
