THREE IN A ROW
1, 2, 3, 4”x6” photos. Vertical, horizontal. 12”x12” paper. If you do the math on all the elements listed, you’ll realize that when you put 3 horizontal pictures on top of each other, you end up with 12” of pictures. If you put 3 vertical pictures next to each other, you end up with 12” of pictures. That’s pretty easy math and a fast and easy scrapbook layout. Using this technique leaves you plenty of space on a layout for journaling, embellishing, or even adding another picture. I love this technique for its clean lines and the ability to get multiple pictures onto one layout. If you need to crop your pictures and they’re no longer the standard 4”x6”, don’t be afraid to mix up vertical and horizontal pictures to create a series, or to place more than three next to each other.

Layout 1: Campfire Cooking
Supplies Used:
  • Old West Creatable by Laurie Furnell
  • Glazed Canvas background paper by Karen Foster
  • Cardstock: black, tan
  • Jute
  • Poetry Dog Tags by Chronicle Books
  • Black craft paint
  • Makeup Sponge
  • Pop Dots by All Night Media
Instructions:
  1. Copy and paste the Campfire graphic to a workspace; I used Microsoft Word. Size to 3.5” wide. Set your page layout to landscape. Tip the graphic sideways and place in the upper left corner. Create 2 text boxes to run the length of the layout next to the campfire graphic. Using LD Old Country font, type "CAMPFIRE" into the top box and size to fit. Using Copperplate Gothic, type "COOKING" into the bottom box and size to fit. Print onto tan cardstock and cut out.
  2. Using the makeup sponge, dab black craft paint onto the dog tags and let dry. My dog tag words are “delicious” and “treat”.
  3. Tie the dog tags onto the border just above the fire using jute. Place a Pop Dot under each tag to hold in place. Mat onto black cardstock and adhere to the left side of the layout.
  4. Adhere 3 horizontal pictures to the right side of the layout.

Layout 2: Butterfly
Supplies Used:
  • Sweet Spring Creatable by Melissa Saylor
  • Party Time background papers by Miss Elizabeth
  • Miss Elizabeth Flat Head Brads, blue
  • Pewter Rectangle Holder by Making Memories
  • Tiles Play Mosaic Stickers, cream, by Sticko
  • GF Ordner Normal Font downloaded from internet
  • LD Fairy Tale Font by Lettering Delights
Instructions:
  1. Copy and paste the Pink Butterfly and the Field of Daffodils graphics to a workspace. I used Microsoft Word. Set your page layout to landscape. Size the Daffodil graphic to 6” wide and copy and paste so you have two next to each other to create a title border. The graphic will be off the layout format, but this will enable you to get the full length your printer will allow. Create text boxes with no lines or background color and create a title. I used LD Fairy Tale font for the word “Butterfly” and Copperplate Gothic for “Exhibit”.
  2. Size the Pink Butterfly to 2.5” wide. Copy and paste so you have two. Print all graphics onto white cardstock. Cut out the butterflies, one butterfly flight swirl, and the daffodil title border.
  3. Prepare the background layout by cutting a 1.25” striped border and adhere to the top of the polka dotted paper. Adhere 3 pictures across the layout under the striped border.
  4. Adhere the Daffodil title border to the bottom of the layout.
  5. Place Pop Dots under the wings of the butterfly and adhere the bodies together. Adhere to page using Pop Dots and add flight swirl.
  6. Embellish using the tiles, brads and pewter holder. Using the GF Ordner Font, size 20, create “Butterfly” labels and randomly adhere to layout.

Layout 3: Friends Barcode
Supplies Used:
  • Road Rippers Creatable by Lori Lynn Simms
  • Cardstock, white
  • Adhesive Tags by Sticko
  • Printers Lowercase Alphabet Stamps by Hero Arts
  • Black Ink Pad
Instructions:
  1. Copy and paste the BGD Cruisin Stripe graphic to a workspace, I used Microsoft Word. Set your page layout to landscape. Size the graphic to 5.5” wide. Go to Format, Picture, Image Control, and change the setting to Black and White. Copy and paste 3 more of the black and white graphic and line up to cover the entire page.
  2. Add a text box with no lines and type the word "FRIENDS". I used Times New Roman. Place text box at the bottom of the black and white stripes to create a barcode. Print onto white cardstock.
  3. Trim the white edge off of the printed barcode. Trim a 1.25” border from the top and adhere centered at the top of a 12”x12” piece of white cardstock. Adhere bottom of the barcode centered at the bottom of the layout.
  4. Arrange pictures across the layout over the gap where there isn’t a barcode.
  5. Stamp the word priceless onto the adhesive tags and adhere above the pictures.

Layout 4: Museum - Africa
Supplies Used:
  • Jungle Jungle Creatable by Julie Dobson Miner
  • African background paper by Miss Elizabeth
  • Cardstock, brown, white
  • Vellum
  • Raffia
  • LD Potpourri font by Lettering Delights
  • Paper Punch
  • Magic Mesh from Stampin’ Up
  • African coin, downloaded graphic from internet
Instructions:
  1. Copy and paste the Framed Daddy Lion to a workspace. I used Microsoft Word. Size to 2.5” and print onto white cardstock. Cut out and set aside.
  2. Create a 4”x4” text box in Word and repeat the word Africa using the LD Potpourri font in size 28. Print onto vellum and cut out. Adhere the lion to the center of the text box. Thread raffia around the corners in a criss cross pattern. (Put holes in it with a large needle to allow enough room to thread the raffia.)
  3. Adhere 3 horizontal pictures down the left side of the layout. Cut two ¼” strips of brown cardstock and adhere down either side of the pictures.
  4. Adhere the Lion and Africa text box in the right top corner. Place a ¾” strip of Magic Mesh under the graphics running from the edge of the pictures to the outside edge of the layout.
  5. Add a graphic of an African coin. I searched Google for images and then copied and pasted into my workspace and printed it onto white cardstock.
  6. Create a tag with a picture. Punch a hole in the top and tie with raffia.
