TITLE STYLES

We all know the saying, a picture paints a thousand words, but as scrapbookers we want to have our layouts worth more. By adding journaling to our layouts we have upped its worth in gold, but titles can be a lot of fun to create and give it added value also.

When I take pictures of any event, whether it is a vacation or just some candid everyday photos, I always make sure I have enough to create a layout that will be a 2 page spread. I like to have my pages side by side to match. I use the first page to convey the attitude of the pictures and use this for a title page and the second page to have my journaling and thoughts along with the pictures.

The layouts below are all title pages with different ways to create and add a title to your layout. I hope the ideas are enough to get you inspired to become a titlist.

Layout 1: FIRST SUNSET

Supplies:

  • Sunny Watercolors Creatable by Lori Gardner
  • Vintage Stripes Dark Gold background paper by All My Memories
  • Cardstock, rust, gold, white
  • Gold 7/8”grosgrain ribbon by Offray
  • Sewing machine
  • Date stamp by Staples

Instructions:

  1. Copy and paste the sun02 from the Creatable to a workspace, I use Microsoft Word. Size to 2 ¾” and print onto white cardstock. Cut out and adhere to the bottom right corner of the background paper.
  2. Cut a 5 ½” wide strip of gold cardstock and adhere 1/2" from the top of the layout. Double mat photo with gold and rust and adhere to the left side to the gold strip.
  3. Cut 4 ½” gold square and fold in half to create a triangle. Zig zig the edges closed using a sewing machine. Adhere in the corner with the sun.
  4. Select a font for your ribbon title, I used Copperplate Gothic in bold. Size to fit on the ribbon and print onto white typing paper. Cut a strip of ribbon to fit over the printed title. Adhere the ribbon with double stick tape centered over the printed title. Be sure all your ribbon edges are secure. Run the paper back through the printer to create title.
  5. Mat the ribbon using gold cardstock and sew the edges using a zig zag stitch. Mat onto rust cardstock and adhere to layout. Stamp the date onto your layout.
