A Day at the Zoo

Summer is here and what could be more fun than a day at the zoo! We are so fortunate in my area to have the San Diego Zoo. Hubby and I took our cameras and headed out for a day of fun and fabulous photo ops! Since I’m getting a bit older and stiffer in the joints, it was my brilliant idea to take the bus around the grounds. That worked out wonderfully. After we got off of the bus we backtracked to see some of our favorites close up. When I saw the Born to be Wild Creatable by Shelly Comiskey, I knew I had to use it with my recent zoo photos.









Project 1: A Day at the Zoo
    *I’m using Digital Image Pro unless otherwise noted. This is the first page of my zoo album.
  1. Create a new 12 x 12 page at 300 dpi. Add each of the elements.
  2. Add shadows to make the animals pop.
  3. Add bevels to the letters.
  4. Use burn tool to darken portions of the title.

Project 2: Company’s Coming
  1. Create new page by selecting the 12 x 12 background paper.
  2. Add title and fill with photo.
  3. Bevel title and add shadow.
  4. Add giraffes and shadow them.
  5. Add leaves, duplicate and group them together.
  6. Add shadow to grouped leaves.

Project 3: Always Obey the Signs
  1. Create a new page using the striped background.
  2. Add edge to photo matching it to a color in the layout.
  3. Add gators and stagger them size wise.
  4. Add sign and and title words.
  5. Cut “Don’t” out and add portion of it under gator.
  6. Add shadows.

Project 4: A Zoo Memories Spiral Notebook
  1. Use one of the pages you have created.
  2. Unwind the spiral cover from your notebook.
  3. Print your page on thick cardstock and use original cover to match up holes.
  4. Punch holes and rewind spiral into book.
  5. Write memories of your zoo day.
