May is a Marvelous Month! (Especially for Mommies!)
I won’t even say that I can’t believe that it is May already but you know that I’m thinking it! May is special to so many of us because of Mother’s Day which is the second Sunday in May. May first is May Day and another reason for celebration. Do any of you do the traditional ringing of the doorbell and leaving flowers as a surprise? I used to love to do that. I remember jumping over fences to get out of sight before the person answered the door.
I am so thankful to finally be able to write this little note to you! I have managed to semi destroy three computers this week! Well, hubby thinks it was related to some updates that I downloaded but wow! What a mess! Only one PC is working at the moment so I thought I’d best make hay while the sun shines and get this little page ready for you! I truly missed my computer and was so lost without it! Makes you realize how important backups are!
Hubby had gotten me a new pc to replace the one that crashed last month! Computers just don’t seem to like me! Maybe I work them too hard! I do spend a lot of time on the computer but I try to treat them with respect and kindness…sigh. (Think of a sad little ole lady face here).
While I’m up and running, let’s do a couple of pages for Mother’s Day!
Project 1: Family Heirlooms
I have used KaeLynn Winn’s art from
Family Heirlooms
before, because it touches a special cord in my heart.
Create a new page with artwork as background. I like to create my page at 8.5 x 11 and 300 dpi. You can always print it smaller if you want to create a small gift item.
Use magic wand to remove white from the
painted
image selection.
Add photo underneath artwork so that vines, etc are on top layer.
Add little verse to page and a title if you want one.
Project 2: Mothers Day Card
Using KaeLynn’s beautiful artwork, it is easy to create a special card for Mom.
Open artwork as new page. Chose size you want card to be.
Add shapes to page and use eyedropper to match color
Add text inside shapes and underneath shapes.
Create inside of card which includes verse.
I used the highlight edge function to put the blue around the page.
Follow your printer’s instructions as to the printing of the card.
Project 3: A Mother’s Bouquet
This project can be used as a scrapbook layout or printed at a smaller size and used to create a card or a little framed gift for Mom. I used artwork from Tina Wenke’s
A Mother’s Bouquet
.
Create a new page. (Mine is 12 x 12 and 300 dpi) and add your choice of background paper. (Just for fun, I used a kaleidoscope plug-in downloaded from the Internet to change the background paper a bit. It swirled the flowers around in a circle.)
Add artwork from Creatable.
Add a number of shapes and use eyedropper tool to match colors in artwork.
Add smaller bits of art to each little shape, along with text.
In the frame, I have the artwork, but you may have a wonderful photo of Mom that you would like to place there.
You can use your own photos to create some special and unique cards for your Mother for her special day.
Project 4: Happy Mother’s Day Card
I chose a photo of a flower from last week’s walk.
I took it into my photo program and using a filter downloaded from online, I applied the kaleidoscope effect.
Shown is an example of what you can do.
Use special effect photos as the front of your card and add a verse inside.
And for those of you who bought Carolee Jones’
Super Chic
:
Project 5: In Honor of Mom, the Super Chick
Chose the background paper and add photos and title.
Create second page and add images removing white from painted image with the magic wand.
Include a little poem or message.
Simple but fun double page for Mom!
Enjoy and have fun!
Your Assignment for this month if you should decide to accept it:
This month’s assignment is very short and sweet. For those of you who will be visiting your mothers and grandmothers over Mother’s Day, remember to create something special for them that shares not only your creativity, but your heart, and meet me back here next month (Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise …as they used to say back home!)
Hugs,
Thena
