Now it's November!
In case you haven’t noticed, November has “snuck” up on us! We knew the year was going fast, but I was not quite prepared for how fast!
Last month, I went to Las Vegas to Memory Trends to introduce two new books which will soon be available here at pcCrafter. They are
“A Taste of Paste”
and
“Board Smartz”
. These are not only for scrapbookers but for the classroom as well. You will find images in your HugWare that will be perfect for illustrating them to use them on projects for your classroom or as gifts for your child’s teachers.
I was overwhelmed by the amount of “stuff” available for us as scrapbookers. There were all kinds of papers, ribbons, trims, embellishments, overlays, books - you name it! I could not get through more than a portion of the convention center in my times away from the booth. The place was filled with eye candy!
That is somewhat the reaction I have as I browse through my HugWare files. I have so much to choose from. What fun to think of a subject and then find a variety of images that will work on my page or craft project. I want to show you how to use these images in a variety of ways.
In November we usually think of Thanksgiving and the change of seasons. Here in California, we don’t have the dramatic change of colors like I enjoyed in Kentucky and Virginia. I miss those lovely tours along Skyline Drive in Virginia to enjoy the changing of the colors. There are many days that I replay that memory in my head.
With November upon us, Christmas is not far behind! So as you browse through your Thanksgiving files, you might want to pull out some Christmas images as well! But for this month, I decided to do something whimsical instead of seasonal. I thought I would save the holidays for next month.
Project 1: If I Could Go to the Zoo
A is for Apple
is the Creatable I chose for this page about going to the zoo.
Create a new square page. I keep my options set to create at 300 dpi. You can always make the file smaller if you need to.
I added shape and filled with color using the eyedropper to match the pink in the elephant image.
I copied and pasted the elephant after using the bevel effect which I have has a plug in to Digital Image Pro. If you do a search for plug-ins, look for bevel effect. You can choose the one you like the best.
I added shapes for the photos. I added an uneven number of shapes to keep the eye interested.
Project 2: Happy Fall Card
Create a new card size page and fill with color.
Add the image for the front of the card.
Cut out the Happy Fall words and use the bevel effect on them.
Add the words back to the card.
Write the inside of the card using PC Wooden font.
Cut out centers of flowers and bevel them.
Project 3: Sophie Page
Create a new page and add photo; resize photo to fit page.
Make almost transparent.
Add poem and mat.
Add multiple photos
Project 4: Sweet Sophie
Create new page and add color to shape to form background
Add background from
Behind the Scenes
Creatable.
Add text and then use bevel effect and add shadow.
Add bevel to mats.
There you have it-some simple pages with added fun by using a simple trick of beveling. I love to use bevels to add depth to my pages.
Now for your assignments, should you decide to accept them:
If you know someone who has lost a pet, offer them comfort and lean a shoulder to cry on.
Be sure to take a lot of photos of your pets.
If you can offer a home to a shelter dog, they need home now especially due to the hurricanes.
Tell your friends that you love them.
Hug someone.
Meet me back here next month.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Thena
