Goodbye Sweet Boy—A Little Tribute to Gus
This has been a sad month for me as I said good-bye to my beloved Poodle, Gus. Gus is on one of my Creatables that I did several years ago. He has loved me, inspired me, frustrated me and delighted me. He was at times a rascal and brat and other times my little angel, but he was always loved and treasured and now he is missed. He is missed more than I could ever imagine. Someday I will again be able to tell stories about his funny, quirky and endearing habits…but not yet.
My heart goes out to all of you who have lost pets. I know with all that is going on in the storm tossed areas of our country, it may seem strange to dwell on pets, but pets have a special place in so many of our hearts.
For this month’s layouts, I asked some of my friends from the PCC message board to share some photos with me. I hope they like what I have done with them. Here you go ladies!
Project 1: A Day in the Life of Chubby
Cindy shared these photos of her kitty, Chubby, and hubby’s dog, Dakota.
  1. Create a new page in Digital Image Pro and fill with color.
  2. Add border to photos and add photos to page.
  3. Add shadows to each photo on page. Add text and shadows.
This can be used to place in your family Christmas album, to create a special album cover, or to print out as gift-wrap, the uses are without limit.

Project 2: Thinking of You
hubby’s photo was so exceptionally adorable that I thought it would make a cute card-any kind of card. All it takes is the appropriate wording for the occasion and it is ready to go. The inside says:
Angels are all around us
I can sense them everywhere
I feel their wingtips brush my face
As I kneel to speak to God in prayer.

I know He sends them here to help us
When we get in a jam
And I know that there are lots of them
For I feel them all around.

I do not worship angels
For they too are subject to the Lord
They are just ministering spirits
Sent to those who trust His Word.

I'm asking that God send
A ministering angel on its way
To shelter you from the storm
And comfort you today.

Project 5: Wonder
Beth shared these photos of her sweet girl with me. They are a bit grainy but too cute not to share. If you have photos that are not of a high resolution you can use them to share on the web and not print them out.
  1. Create new page and fill with color.
  2. Add violet image art at top and bottom of page.
  3. Add shape and stretch it into long ribbon
  4. Cut photo into oval and add circle link from DIP stamp function. Run ribbon through it by erasing one side of circle and placing ribbon over the other side of link.
  5. Emboss oval photo using emboss function in DIP.
  6. Add larger photo and use DIP decorative frame function.
  7. Add text.

Project 6: Grandpa's Hat
Janis let me play with this wonderful photo of her grandbaby. Isn’t it adorable!
  1. Add photo to background.
  2. Add hat cutout and emboss it with emboss function.
  3. Add text.
Project1a
Well, there you go again. This week we used the emboss function to create depth and add interest. There is an emboss function in DIP but I also like to use a plug in that I got on line. If you do a search for emboss function for DIP, you should find some. I don’t know that the one I got is still available.
Your assignments should you decide to accept them:
  1. Do some simple pages that tell a story or share a feeling.
  2. Experiment with texture, effects such as embossing and creating elements for decorating your pages.
  3. Take some photos of your pets and create some cards with them.
  4. Hug someone!
  5. Call a friend to tell them you love them.
  6. Have a wonderful day and celebrate the good in your life.
  7. Find a way to help the flood and hurricane victims.
  8. Meet me back here next month.
Hugs,
Thena
