Graduation Time is Here

I couldn’t believe it when I looked at the calendar and saw the date! What happened to the first part of my year? Time really does fly when you are having fun!

For a lot of you, this time of year means a number of graduations to celebrate and ceremonies to attend. It also means a lot of cards that you can create and share.

This month will be a bit different. I will give you some ideas for the front of cards for your graduates and some poems for you to use for the inside. These Creatables by Deena Rutter and Jeriann Sabin may be in your older stash, if not, they are worth checking out (especially if you have some graduation cards to create).

For those of you who do traditional cut and paste or hybrid, you may want to add some ribbons or other elements to the face of your card.







Project 1: Card for a Girl Graduate
    Using You Made It! by Denna Rutter.
  1. Create new page at 300 dpi.
  2. Add background paper of your choice.
  3. Add imageart and text.

    Using You Made It! by Denna Rutter.
  1. Create new 8.5 x 11 portrait page. Place imageart on lower portion. Fold in half to create card. Add sentiment inside.
  2. Write sentiment on plain white bond and fold to fit inside.
  3. Adhere with your favorite adhesive.

    Using Graduation Celebration by Jeriann Sabin.
  1. Create new page.
  2. Arrange your selection of elements on face of card.
  3. Choose sentiment for inside of card.

Project 5: Creating Simple Elements
    Create your own graduation elements using your software.
  1. Follow outline to create the graduation cap.
  2. Add circle shape.
  3. Use spherical distortion tool.
  4. Apply highlight shape to button.
  5. Use transparency function to lighten highlight.
  6. Use your cap creation to fill a page as background and cut out center to create a frame.
  7. Add thin rectangle shape and add bevel to make it stand out.

Now for some verses for your graduates:

Parents always search
For the right words to say
To share their pride and joy
On a daughter's graduation day.
We don't want to be a drag
And say something sappy
But we want to say
That we are really happy!

Styles, trends and what have you
But it is our desire to find just the thing
That will reach out and grab you!
