A Day in the Life of ... Cara Bradshaw
How does your day begin?
I’m a morning person, but since having teenagers, I’ve turned into a night person too. Just about every morning I try to take a 3 1/2 mile walk with my walking buddy Jolane. When I get back I do the mom chores, then I get to have playtime. I consider the time I spend doing artwork as my playtime, or my relax time. I enjoy it and it gives me a chance to create some fun things. The remainder of the day is spent with the kid’s piano lessons, running errands, and being the #1 Fan at their sporting events.(*see more photos of Cara's life and family.)
What are some of your creative habits?
My biggest inspiration comes from being around my kids; using them as my models, and from situations that happen through everyday life. I also get ideas from things I like to do; working in the yard, reading books, going camping and hiking with the family.
What other art related jobs do you do?
I used to do illustrations for newspaper ads, educational books and magazines, and a few scrapbook companies.
Who do you currently have licensing agreements with?
Right now I enjoy working with PC Crafter and Provo Craft. They keep my plate full, and along with four kids (two still at home), that’s about all I have time for.
What are your future plans?
I try to stay healthy and happy. I am also trying to raise respectable kids, and to keep the two family dogs from swiping our socks and burying them outside in the backyard.
Final thoughts?
Four years ago my oldest son had a liver transplant. For the last few years I’ve spent a lot of time with him in and out of hospitals. He has become my hero because of the way he endures everything with a smile on his face, a “cowboy up!” attitude and a prayer in his heart. I’m lucky enough to have a job I can do at home with flexible hours. The other heroes in my life are my kids and my wonderful husband Tim. They’ve pitched in, helped out, and together they have become a great support team. Every day is a “Feel good day” and life with my crew is a pay day!
