Artist Spotlight

Artist SpotlightA Day in the Life of Tammy Sherman . . .

If you ask me right now where home is, I will tell you Georgia - which is where I currently hang my hat.

We are a military family and have lived in several states since my husband and I have been married. Traveling with two wonderful children by our sides, Ian (age 7) and Caitlin (age 5), makes it all very exciting.

Since we do move every 2 to 3 years, it is so nice to be able to work at home. I can be here for my husband and children each day and when we move my job travels with me.
After studying towards a degree in Fine Art, Visual Communications at Northeast Missouri State University, I worked at newspaper companies and so forth. I met my husband in 1994 and we married in Missouri.

There I became a crafter and started designing my own dolls. After our Hawaii tour and two children later, we moved to Arkansas. There I started an online pattern company for dollmaking. It was on the internet that I met Jennie Giboney of Jennie 'n Co. (www.jennienco.com). We realized that there was starting to be websites put on the internet for women but no cute artwork. We felt that we could start up a company to do this for people, so we did within a couple months. We formed a partnership and a deep friendship, making websites for other people. She does the web development and maintenance and I do the easy stuff - the illustration and graphic design work. :) We were the first online company to create primitive and country style websites for clients - The Old Drawin' Board ( ww.theolddrawinboard.com) and we are proud of that reputation

One year into the The Old Drawin' Board a customer came to us, Sherri Gool of Meme's Quilts (www.memesquilts.co ) and we also became great friends. Forming a corporation, we became fabric designers for Indo U.S. Sales Inc. (www.indous.co ), having our own big lines of hand-died and handwoven homespun fabric. Such lines have been named: Folkart Fixins, Saltbox Farm, Cherry Blossoms, Americana Garden, Quilted Cabin, Outsider Folkart Collection (brand new), Gator Island (brand new) and Panache (will be released this fall at Internation Quilt Market in Houston, TX). We will be designing for many years to come so if you love to sew or just collect fabric as many women tend to do, keep your eyes pealed for Meme's Quilts Design Company Inc. with Indo-U.S. Sales Inc.

Five years, 7 lines of fabric, over 150 web clients, and so many more things along the way, I am so happy to be able to design for pcCrafter. I am inspired by color, folkart, country motifs, shabby design elements, whimsical nature of children, and love of God and my saviour Jesus. I hope you all enjoy my art and thank you pcCrafter for allowing me to share myself.

Hugs,
Tammy Sherman
