A Day in the Life of ... Becky Johnson
How does your day begin?
I’m a student at BYU-Idaho and will begin my 2nd year in May 2004. I’m on the summer/fall track so I only attend school May to December. During my break I came home to Bakersfield, CA to work and save money. My mom suggested I submit my artwork to pcCrafter. In my free time I sleep, scrapbook, practice the piano, and “play” with my friends. I’m definitely not a morning person unless you consider staying up until morning… :o). When I finally roll out of bed around noon, I get ready for the day, get the mail (since being home from school I practically live for mail, email, and phone calls!), then start working on some art to send in. .(*see more photos of Becky's life and family.)
What are some of your creative habits?
I like drawing and especially painting. I get ideas from life and the things I love most. But, art is just kind of a side talent that I do for fun or when I’m bored. What I really enjoy doing is sewing and cooking and that’s why I chose Family and Consumer Science as my major. It involves sewing, cooking, and child and family studies.
What other art related jobs do you do?
This is actually my first art related job. Up until now I have only painted a mural for the church primary and at a local charter school I taught art to kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders as a volunteer.
Who do you currently have licensing agreements with?
No one other than pcCrafter
What are your future plans?
I have a million future plans so I’ll just sum up. I’m going to graduate with a bachelor’s from BYU-Idaho, hopefully get married in the San Diego temple, have 6 kids (my mom thinks I’m insane…), and someday I want a big house with a wrap around porch on about 5 acres of land and lots of big trees.
Final thoughts?
I like working with pcCrafter because it’s fun and allows me to have flexible hours. It’s also opened the door for more possibilities for my career, and it’s a good job for a stay at home mom, which is what I plan on being.
