A Day in the Life of Rebecca Carter . . .
How does your day begin?
Rebecca’s life is a whirlwind of activity, no two days ever begin or end alike. She is married to her biggest supporter and has four children that keep her on her toes. She is very involved with her family and many other things including her artwork. Rebecca is grateful that she gets to make a living doing something she enjoys so much. Now, with summer in full swing, vacations, lots of art to design and all of the summer activities will keep her busy.
What are some of your creative habits?
Rebecca’s art and creativity starts with the enjoyment that she gets from the world around her. There isn’t one thing that gets her started on a new project or design. "Photographs inspire me, especially those that are taken in different parts of the world. Architecture, people and their cultures, the textures and color in their clothing fascinates me. Narrow paths made of stone, old historical gardens and the history behind its creation.”
Rebecca also says, "Maternity photos are so exciting in anticipation of what is to come!! Then I get to do the babies!" Rebecca is an avid photographer of weddings but would take photos of children all day long. "Nothing is sweeter than what I see through the lens of my camera."
“Maybe it's just the feeling of appreciation of what I see is what I would like to incorporate into my artwork. Experimenting is what I like to do. The style and color may slightly change but that is what keeps me going. “ Rebecca’s artwork over the past year reflects her love of textures and rich colors. She enjoys mixing mediums such as stenciling, lettering and patterns and experimenting with fabric textures in creating new art.
What other art related jobs do you do?
Rebecca has a degree in fine art and has taught art and calligraphy classes for many years. She works for a variety of companies, who have given her exposure to several mediums and opportunities. She worked for six years as a corporate designer while branching out into licensing her designs to a variety of companies ranging from fabric, scrapbooking supplies, computer art (pcCrafter), cross-stitch, home decorating items, and writing instructional books for scrapbooking, stenciling and crafting. She now licenses her artwork through Sagebrush Fine Art Inc.
What are your future plans?
“Continue to enjoy my family and my life. It is very full and exciting new things happen everyday. You never know what is around the next corner.”
Final thoughts?
“Life is an endless journey of opportunity. It is up to you what you do with it. Embrace it!! In turn, it will give back to you in ways you may never have imagined."
