| Step 1. |
Paint all the box with dark brown using a roller (use a hair drier to accelerate the process if you want). |
| Step 2. |
Apply one more coat of dark brown. Let it dry. |
| Step 3. |
Apply crackle medium to the base of the box. |
| Step 4. |
Print out images from "Antique Keepsakes" (if your printer's ink is not waterproof, make a laser copy of it). |
| Step 5. |
Cut the images out. I used "BGD Crackle Time" for the top of the box, "Clock House", "Clock Square", "Cog02" and "Lock and Key" images from the set. |
| Step 6. |
Apply ivory acrylic with a brush over the crackle medium and dry it using a hair drier. |
| Step 7. |
Using white glue (add a little water if the glue is too thick) and a paintbrush or polybrush, spread glue to the back of the images and stick them to the box. Allow about one hour to dry. |
| Step 8. |
Apply one coat of acrylic varnish to the box. |
| Step 9. |
Shade edge of the top using dark brown and around the other images with black. |
| Step 10. |
Dip the hard-wearing bristles flat brush in the metalic gold paint puddle and then remove excess paint. Very lightly brush it on the top sides to make some golden string highlights. Allow it to dry. |
| Step 11. |
Apply two coats of satin acrylic varnish for a nice finish. |
