| Step 1. |
Using a graphic program (I used Print Shop), layout the design using various sized rectangles to create your quilt blocks filling the background. |
| Step 2. |
Fill each quilt block with a Hugware background (BGD) and a coordinating PNG graphic. Angel Garden is an older Hugware, so I used the trick of holding down the “shift” key while selecting the graphic I wanted with my mouse and dragging it onto my Print Shop layout. |
| Step 3. |
Print out the final design and measure each blocks height and width. If you want your wall quilt to be larger than your printed design say by 25% then add 25% to each of your measurements. Then add ½” to each measurement to allow for ¼” seams. |
| Step 4. |
Open a new Print Shop Page and copy and paste a few of your blocks from the original lay out. For each block, go to “Size” and enter the dimensions you want for the block. Repeat this until you have all the blocks on 8 ½” x 11” pages (for printing). |
| Step 5. |
Iron 8 ½” X 11” pieces of unbleached muslin to 8 ½” x 11” pieces of freezer paper. Place in your printer so that the design will print on the muslin. Try a sample and decide what “print quality” should be used to meet your desired finished look. |
| Step 6. |
Sew your quilt blocks together. Add a coordinating border. Measure the piece and cut the batting and wallhanging backing fabric to this dimension. With the right sides of the fabric together, lay the batting on the backing and stitch together, leavin a couple of inches for turning. Turn right side out and stich opening closed. |
| Step 7. |
Use a decorative stitch on a sewing machine and stitch the outlines of the blocks. |
