Advent Calendar

Supplies:

Card/paper
Laminator and pouches (optional)
Double sided tape
Hugware
HugWare You Could Use:
Christmastime, Santa's for Everyone

Instructions:

Step 1. Make a background using black or navy card and sticking on pieces of green paper to make a hill or two.
Step 2. Choose 24 images from your hugware to make a Nativity Scene - if you plan your scene first it will help you get the right proportions for each image. You don't have to use all different ones - I used stars to make up the numbers when I ran out of kings and shepherds etc.
Step 3. Print and cut out each of the 24 images on paper or card (see next step)
Step 4. If you have a laminator, laminate the background and the images and you will be able to re-use them year after year. If not, print the images on card to make them stronger.
Step 5. Put a piece of double sided tape on the back of each images but leave the backing paper on.
Step 6. Put the images in an envelope and stick the background on the wall.
Step 7. Each day pull an image out of the envelope to stick on the background. By Christmas Eve you will have built up a complete scene.
I found it best to separate the images into more than one envelope so that they came out in some sort of order. The stable had to come before Mary and Joseph for example. I also saved the manger for the last day.

If you wanted to make a non-religious calendar, you could use the same idea but make a snowy scene, say, or a Christmas tree with decorations. Or how about using an alphabet set ('Angel Alphabet' by Cara Bradshaw would be perfect) to spell out one letter of a greeting each day. The phrase 'A Very Merry Christmas To You' is just 24 letters!

In fact you could make a count down calendar like this for any exciting occasion. Summer holidays or starting a new school, perhaps. There's loads of hugware for any special event you can think of.
